On July 4th, Developmental Services Ontario officially launches!

Please join us on Monday July 4th across the North East Region as we celebrate the launch of the new access point for adult developmental services.

New “Cycle for Autism” Date Announced

Due to inclement weather, North Bay’s Cycle for Autism was delayed earlier this month. A new date has been announced so circle Sunday June 26th on the calendar! The event will be held at One Kids Place with lots of games for the kids, face painting, and great prizes to be won!

12:00pm – BBQ and start of registration

1:00pm – the Cycle begins!

“Can toddlers benefit from early reading programs?”

Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca’s Early Literacy Specialist was recently quoted in a Toronto Star article titled: “Can toddlers benefit from early reading programs?”. The article, written by columnist Ann Douglas, discusses the effectiveness of video and flashcard programs designed to teach children how to read. Sandy Inkster, Hands’ Early Literacy Specialist was quoted as saying “Grilling, quizzing and testing are not the optimal ways for babies to learn to relate. It is all about making that connection with the baby – picking up on the cues from the baby”.
