North Bay Firefighter Calendar Supports Local Autism Services

Posted on: September 28th, 2017

Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca and the North Bay Firefighters are proud to officially launch the 2018 North Bay Firefighters Calendar initiative, to raise money in support of children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families, for new technology and equipment.

“We are honoured to be the chosen recipient of the North Bay Firefighters 2018 Calendar,” said Nathalie Ouellette, Senior Manager of Autism Services at Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca. “Through this initiative, Hands will be better able to assist local families with a child or youth with autism in accessing the supports they need. Our local firefighters go above and beyond in their commitment to supporting community organizations, like Hands.”

Hands’ Autism Services are family-focused from diagnosis through to service navigation and access. Their programs work wth families on personalized goals such as communication, social skills, early learning skills and challenging behaviours; addressing the unique needs of a child with Autism.

“Our goal wasn’t only to raise money for the needed technology and equipment, but also increase awareness of the services that Hands provides our community,” said Jim Daly, local firefighter and 2018 calendar coordinator. “All the firefighters featured in the calendar volunteered their time, and had a lot of fun working with local photographer, Patrick Gilbert.”

The official Calendar Launch Party takes place on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at The Voyager Inn with a live auction and calendar signing by the firefighter models. Calendars will go on sale to the public as of Friday, October 13, 2017. For more information on ticket locations, visit northbayfirefighters.ca.
