The New Ontario Autism Program

Posted on: December 1st, 2016

The Ministry of Child and Youth Services (MCYS) announced the new Ontario Autism Program in March 2016. The Program will make it easier for families to access services for their children by reducing wait times and providing more flexible services at a level of intensity that meets each child’s individual needs. It will also increase the number of treatment spaces available to serve more children and youth and accommodate the rising prevalence of autism diagnoses.

On June 28th, 2016, MCYS enhanced its original transition plan, announced in March, to better support all children with autism, while improving supports for those families most affected by the transition to the new program. Detailed information on the new Ontario Autism Program, as well as helpful resources for parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be found on the Ministry’s website.
